SIXMILEBRIDGE
Sixmilebridge is a town situated in County Clare, Ireland. It lies near the N18 road about halfway between Ennis and Limerick. Kilmurry is a small village that is also under the parish of the Sixmilebridge.
Sixmilebridge is nowadays a suburb town for commuters who work in Shannon, Limerick and Ennis, and there are now many houses being built in the town for this reason.
Many businesses have decided to base themselves in Sixmilebridge, therefore the commercial core has grown immensley in the town.
Sixmilebridge is very well known for it's duck haven named Duck Inn. It lies on the O'Garney River, and is populated by a large population of ducks.
The Duck Inn is a floating vessel with glass windows. It is home to the ducks during winter season, and is also where their eggs are hatched and collected. This comes under the Sixmilebridge tourist trail.
The village of Sixmilebridge is also famous locally for it's Winter Music Weekend, which is a festival held every January. There are many singers, dancers and musicians, and it was started the local folk club back in the year two thousand.
The event goes on for the whole weekend and host a wide range of entertainments such as blues bands, stand up comedians singers from Ireland, England and The United States and many more.
Fishing in the area is very popular and there are a lot of lakes to choose from As well as the O'Garney river. The popular fish to be caught are Bream, Pike and Roach. The river is popular for Salmon and Trout.
