ENNIS
Ennis is the largest town in County Clare and is located on the River Fergus. The town is situated to the South of Galway North of Limerick.
Ennis lies about twenty kilometres (twelve miles) from Shannon airport, and close to the estuary of Fergus.
These days Ennis is regarded as the gateway to the West of County Clare. The N85 is the Western bypass road for travellers coming from the Eastern part of County Clare and Limerick city.
The town of Ennis was made 'The Information Age Town' (the only one in Ireland) back in nineteen ninety seven. The enormous investment at the time made provisions for over four th ousand computers for the locals, and each school had a computer laboratory.
Ennis has a strong attraction for traditional Irish music, with lots of musicians living and playing in the town.
The Ennis Book Club Festival is a yearly event held in the town, organised with Clare County Library during March. The festival attracts people from all over the country, and the rest of the world.
