BALLYNACALLY, COUNTY CLARE
Ballynacally is a village located in County Clare, Ireland. The village is located about sixteen kilometres (ten miles) South West of Ennis, along the R473 coastal road which leads to Kilrush.
The name Ballynacally orinates from the name 'Baile Na Cailleadh, which means The Nuns Island, because it used to be owned by the Nuns of Killone Convent Ballynacally.
Ballynacally village houses a lot of historical buildings and monuments. St Senan and St Brendan both visited this region, and churches were built on the islands.
At this time many people lived on these islands,but later the churches were plundered by the Danes, who were moving along the River Shannon en route to Limerick.
