ACHIL ISLAND, COUNTY MAYO
Achill Island is located in County Mayo, in Ireland. It is the largest island in terms of area, and lies off the West coast of Ireland.
The island has a population of about three thousand, and is connected to the mainland by a bridge (Michael Davitt Bridge) between the villages of Choire and Gob.
Achill island has some beautifully rugged landscape, including The cliffs of Croaghaun, situated to the West of the island. these cliffs are the 3rd highest cliffs in Europe, but are not accessible by car.
Keel Beach is a very popular area for surfing and wind surfing, and can be very busy in the Summer months.
